DO YOU THINK EVER ABOUT YOUR VALUES?
Here’s an enlightening way to rate your cherished inner standards.
If you’re mostly at home as I am, now would be a great time to think about your values. How about taking a look at what matters to you? You may have already created an inventory of your beliefs. That would be terrific!
But, if not, the following exercise will help you to identify values, which are your most treasured, and how much time you spend in your daily life actualizing them. For both columns, use a scale of 1–10, with 10 being the highest.
This little trick can make the following a useful exercise:
After filling in the “Rating” column, cover the numbers you‘ve written. Then fill in the “Time Spent” column. Next, uncover your “Rating” and compare the numbers in each row. You will notice that they don’t match, sometimes being more than five numbers apart. When you find those results or any that are greater than five, you will have uncovered the areas to work on to create your new reality. This exercise is a sequential process: 1)investigate, 2)identify, 3)take action.
Why crawl when you have a chance to soar?
I did this years ago and found that “Spirituality” was virtually non-existent in my life. So I started doing Yoga, and that helped. I also focused on “Self-Expression,” about what I was feeling, and silently looked for the words to express the hidden part of me.
“Walking the Talk” was meaningful, too. The phrase alludes to living with authenticity, one of my goals in life.
After finding any of the values that need work, identifying what my feelings are about, and finding the words to understand them, I attempt to create an action every day that makes these discoveries part of me.
